Cheesy F1 adverts of late.

Hey all.
Hope your already counting down the days till F1 returns.
I know I am.

What has amazed me lately is the amount of F1 commercials that have been banded about.
Now I know there have always been F1 adverts but it just seems like more and more are appearing.

Now I think in the UK it's because we actually have some decent winning and world championship British drivers. In the form of Lewis and Jenson.

Now I know F1 drivers aren't actors but my god.
Some of these adverts hurt my eyes, ears and even my dignity.
Have you tried getting people into F1 when they see adverts like these on the Telly box.

Now that advert was just for the Germans.
But the UK did get something similar a few years earlier.

This advert was also a recent one for us in the UK. Luckily not involving shampoo.
Sadly Nigel must of needed the cash.

Now sadly history is repeating itself with identical shampoo adverts. For Jenson and Sebastian.
(Why does F1 and shampoo always go hand in hand? You never see the drivers hair under a helmet anyway.)

It's just so wrong.

It turns out if you win a world championship then you must have dandruff. Fact.

Just ask Michael Schumacher. In the first F1 advert I ever saw.

Now this one was in Italian (I couldn't find the version I was looking for), we got the same advert but worse.
It was dubbed.
Argggghh.

Mind you I still don't think it will top this.
Though at least this was for a good cause. Promoting milk to youngsters.

This print advert shows that at the end of it all.
Drivers will flog any old tat for cash.
Just ask Fernando Alonso

I have found an advert to top Jenson's Head&Shoulders shenanigans. Fernando Alonso advertising kitchen worktops.

I would like to say a big thank you and credit Kate or @Petronella on twitter. (Follow her she does great F1 tweets) For spotting this picture in Ideal Homes magazine and for me to be able steal it for my blog.

Comments? Seen any more recent cheesy adverts? Print or video.
Just post below or twitter me @squiffany.

F1 Fitty of the week.

So time for another F1 fitty of the week.

Now no F1 fitty of the week would be complete with Britney.
No not that Britney.

I mean this Britney or to by his real name, Nico Rosberg.
Nico Rosberg
Nico is half German, half Finnish and 100% beautiful.
Not only is Nico quite hot.
He is also very clever.

He can speak five different languages and before joining the world of motorsport was offered a place at imperial college London to study aerodynamics.

Pretty and clever. Win

Oh by the way.
He can drive an F1 car too and beat a seven time world Formula One champion whilst he is at it.

Diary of a F1 weekend: China

Hey bloggers
Hope you enjoyed the Formula one this week.

So here is my post about the Chinese Grand Prix.
Here's a clue.
I didn't miss it all. Apart from some practices.
:)

Friday
Now I was at work at 9am. So I knew that I wouldn't get the chance to see first practice. I had done a 10 hour shift the day before and a 3am start wasn't on my list of things to do.
Luckily second practice was on at 7am and I have to get up at 6am. So I managed to catch a little of OQN losing another front wing.

Saturday.
Was a carbon copy of Friday. Third practice was missed so I could catch up on my sleep but I managed to watch qualifying because I was up ready for work.
I loved that Quali two was like a miniature race due to Petrov's car breaking down.
In fact Petrov should break down every quali so we can have more exciting qualifying.
(Now I'm starting to sound like Crazy Bernie and his sprinkler system, Of course I don't want Petrov to break down every week. It was just nice to have a more panic, rushed and strategic qualifying)

Sunday
I was off work on Sunday so I managed to watch the whole of the race including the build up. The race on Sunday was one of the most exciting all dry races we have had in a long time. We had no idea who was going to win the race and even though my bet on Rosberg to be on the podium went down the toilet. (One pound I'm never seeing again. )
This sadly didn't happen :(:(:(

It was amazing to just for once,to plan your loo breaks because you didn't want to miss a single second.

Also on a complete side note. I loved the graphics about the race in Malaysia. About the Driver strategy, the number of pits stops and what they thought won each driver the position in there race.

Also what was nice to see was a great amount of reliability.
Jaime Alguersuari was the only retirement, that was only due to the wheel he lost in his poor pitstop. If he hadn't of lost that and damaged some suspension. We could of seen every car finish.

One day that will be the dream. :)

The Kindness of a F1 driver.

In an open letter to the Bild newspaper.
Nick Heidfeld makes heartfelt plea to his old BMW Sauber team mate and reminds the world that F1 drivers have hearts bigger then there pockets.

Dear Robert

Have you seen that? I printed your logo on the front of my helmet, and the Polish flag on the side. I wanted you to see that and to let you know that I'm thinking of you. I wanted to show your fans that you are a part of Formula 1 and of this team. This 3rd place is also yours!

During the race I had often been thinking of you. Crossing the finish line, happiness totally flooded my head. I know what you are thinking right now: "Lotus-Renault has built such a wonderful car this year. I want to get back as soon as possible and drive it!" You can do it, I wish you all the best for your rehabilitation. Get well soon!

Yours Nick

This is why I love OQN.

I would like to thank http://boxofneutrals.com/ for finding me the link
You rule.

Race Reports...This could be you!

Hey Bloggers.

I have a confession to make.
I wanted, when I started this blog to have my own race reports after every race.
Even though this F1 blog is very light-hearted.
I did want to do something a little bit serious in the form of F1 journalism.

Sadly I worked out (And you probably did too, from the state of the Australian race report) that I am useless at writing them.
An article about pretty much anything else F1 related I can do.
Give me a pretty boy to write about and I'm sorted but give me a 50/60 lap race and I struggle.

So to my loyal followers.
I would like to offer these race report spots to you.
You can be female or male for this.
No sexism here. :P

Your reward for helping me.
Full credit and promotion of your twitter, blog, podcast or website for the length of time till the next grand prix.
Sadly I would offer money but I have none.
Just like the HRT team.

Fancy the free promotion? Or want to know more?
Email me at squiffany87@gmail.com or you can follow me on twitter @squiffany and you can chit chat to me there.
Hope someone would like to help :):):)

Diary of an F1 weekend: Malaysia

Hey bloggers
Hope you are having a lovely weekend.

So diary of an F1 weekend is back and this weekend has been unusual in that I am off for the entire weekend.
Handy for the early time schedule of Malaysia.

So lets start with Friday.
So with a 3am free practice one start.
My first issue of the day occurred.
I was out drinking with work mates and I didn't leave the club till 3am.

The same time as FP1 started but luckily that didn't matter because thanks to the F1 timing app on my smartphone I managed to keep up to date in the taxi until I strolled in at a unseemly time of 3.30am.
Before I took my make up off...The after picture was not worth seeing.

So I got free practice on, whilst I got into my Pj's and took my make up off.
Then in my wide awakeness I tweeted @5liveF1 to ask a question.
Now for the second time in three years. It got read out on air. Now even though David Croft pronounced my twitter name wrong (He made it sound way more posh then it really was) I will let him off because it made my day.

Here is the link from the the start of the question

Was a weird free practice, mainly due to the amount of brake/suspension failures that occurred, hopefully that won't happen in the race.

Free practice 2 was a different affair.
I managed to get up for it but lasted only 30 minutes before my hangover took over and sent me back to sleep. It really is a time zone failure for me.

2.30am Saturday
Just realised that FP3 is at 6am. Not 3am like first thought. Ooooops.

10.15am Saturday
Alarm clock decided to fail. Woke up five minutes after Qualifying had finished. This sadly will not be the first time this year that this occur.

2pm Saturday.
Finally got to watch all of qualifying. No rain again but Heidfeld actually proved why is is called OQN with a 6th place start.

10am Sunday
Today it is my nephew's christening. I should of been up at 8am, so I could get ready and watch the grand prix. Sadly alarm clock failed again but manage to get ready whilst seeing the grand prix from about lap 40.
So manage to see Petrov fly and the battle between old rivals in Hamilton and Alonso.
But the best thing about Malaysia was Heidfeld getting a podium.
This was better for me because on the Friday night I placed an each way bet on Heidfeld getting a podium. So I won just over a fiver. This may not be much but it will help me out now pay day is far away.

So I may of missed pretty much everything this weekend, but watching it again. That's no chore.

The church my nephew's christening was at. Pretty :)

Red Bull Reporter competition

Hey bloggers.
I hope you have had a great day.

Now with Grand Prix weekend now here.
I thought I would share the link to the Red Bull Reporter competition that I entered this weekend.
The prize is an internship with Red Bull for two months and trips to the Monaco and British Grand Prix.

I don't think I'm going win, mainly because I haven't had much Formula one journalism experience and I'm terrible at writing race reports.
But any constructive criticism is welcome.

So have a laugh and here's the link

Fingers crossed...
Well maybe.

F1 Fitty (Well cutie) of the week

Hey Bloggers

I totally forgot about my F1 Fitty of the week.
So now I have remembered here he is.

After his performance of two weekend's ago.
I present to you.

Sergio Perez.
Driver for the Sauber team.
Now he is a young fitty.
Being only 21,
but that means that he's going to go from cute to fit in about 5 years time.

So if I am still writing this blog then, I may be coming back to talk about the fitness of Mr Perez.

With his dark hair, brown eyes and beautiful smile.
Sergio is one sexy Mexican.
Hubba Hubba
